YGN outer ring road to connect YGN-MDY highway to Dala through Thilawa SEZ

A highway outside of Yangon will be constructed to connect Yangon-Mandalay highway to Dala through Thilawa Special Economic Zone, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Construction.
The project is to be implemented by the Ministry of Construction with the spending of loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), according to a report released by the Ministry of Construction on 18 May.
It is part of the project of Greater Yangon Comprehensive Urban Transportation project being implemented by the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) in cooperation with JICA.
The first phase of the project will be the construction of the road from Yangon-Mandalay highway to Thilawa Special Economic Zone. Then, the road will connect Thilawa to Dala, according to the Ministry.
The road will be a six-lane highway, and it is 65 kilometres (over 40 miles) in total. The first phase of the project will be completed by 2025. The project area will include Hlegu, Dagon Myothit (East), Dagon Myothit (Seikkan), Thanlyin and Kyauktan townships. The project will also include a Bago river crossing bridge. It will be 1.4 kilometres (over 4,500 feet) long.
The Thilawa-Dala road construction project will be targeted to complete in 2035, according to the Ministry of Construction. —Aye Cho (Translated by Hay Mar)
