YCDC to control squatting vendors in public places

As a measure of keeping Yangon city clean, Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) is removing the squatting vendors in every township under the prevailing laws.
The street vendors are selling their products for their profit in the public areas regarding them as their own space in Bahan township near Shwedagon Pagoda. Therefore, the Bahan township municipal removed them and seized the chairs, tables, umbrellas, cupboards and other items owned by the street vendors following the laws.
The Bahan township municipal committee chairman U Bo Win said, “We order the street vendors to keep their items as soon as they know our order. Now, they are selling their products for their profit in the public areas regarding them as their own space. We seized their items not because we want to get their things. They are not following the rules and also they do not ask permission from the relevant authorities. So, we want them to conduct under the existing laws.
At present, the street vendors are not allowed to sell in 38th street, Yangon and the municipal staff are observing standby in that area.—Myint Maung (Translated by Hay Mar)
