Vice-President Dr Sai Mauk Kham comforted local people and workers victimized by incidents in Laukkai at Thiri Mingala Mansu Shan monastery in Lashio on Saturday.
Accompanied by Union Ministers U Maung Myint and U Win Myint, Shan State Chief Minister U Sao Aung Myat and deputy ministers, the Vice-President met with locals and workers who were making their way back homes under the arrangement of Presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ponnyannanda and party and attended to their needs.
Next, the Vice-President offered provisions to the presiding sayadaw and donated K10 million for the locals who fled the recent attacks in Laukkai. Wellwishers including the Union ministers and deputy ministers also presented rice, edible oil and cash donation to the monastery. Cash and kind donation for the victims amounted K27.2 million.
On his arrival at Kanmaing monastery, the Vice-President donated K 5.6 million and offertories to members of Sangha led by State Ovadacariya Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Muneinda.
After speaking words of comfort to bereaved families of Lashio Station, he presented them K11.5 million. So far K17.73 million have been provided to bereaved military families.
Next, the Vice-President and party inspected “Htin-shu-myaing affordable housing for service personnel, Cherry Myaing construction project, construction of a car park and site chosen for building an ethnic culture ground in Lashio.
