Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye separately received delegations from Community and Family Service International (CFSI) and Help Age International (HAI) at his ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting with CFSI, they discussed cooperation between CFSI and the ministry to develop Myanmar’s human resources for social welfare and protection by linking with universities in the Philippines and around the world to design relevant short and long term projects for that purpose.
They also discussed making social welfare accessible to the village-level, producing more volunteers for social welfare and providing them with the needed training and technological assistance, and signing MoU for future processes.
During the meeting with HAI, they discussed how the ministry worked for the enactment of the Elderly People Law in December 2016 to ensure the rights of senior citizens and provide them good quality of life.
They also discussed acquiring technical and financial assistance to implement related laws, bylaws and policies through a strategic plan, forming Inclusive Self-Help Groups (ISHG), future processes, supporting the elderly abandoned on the streets, and handling matters related to the elderly and people living with disabilities together.—MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
