Union LIP Minister inspects Namhkam, Muse border immigration gates

U Thein Swe, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population, inspected Naung Tein immigration outpost in Namhkam Township and Mahn Wein inspection camp in Muse Township in Northern Shan State on 18 May.
The Union Minister and entourage first visited the outpost near Naung Tein village in the morning. Officials explained the border conditions between Myanmar and China, how the citizens of both countries cross the Shwe Li River, and how relevant departments cooperate to ensure smooth travel for the local residents.
The Union Minister then gave instructions to carefully inspect all entries and departures through Naung Tein outpost, continued inspection to ensure extracting sand from the Shwe Li River doesn’t alter its natural flow and affects the border demarcation, and educating the local people to prevent illegal immigration in addition to proper inspections. He also asked about the immigration processes in the nearby Mahn Haung outpost.
Afterwards, the Union Minister went to the township office for immigration and population and inspected the office and archive room. He then instructed the staff to be mindful of fire safety, preparing for the transition from pen and paper filing to the digital e-ID system, ensuring good communication with a plethora of people from different background as the office is located on the border, and urging continued cooperation among the staff in addition to fulfilling their assigned duties.
Later in the afternoon, the Union Minister travelled to Mahn Wein inspection camp in Muse where cargo vehicles from Myanmar and China pass through.
He asked staff from each department about their duties and any challenges they were facing while giving coordination as necessary.
Next, the Union Minister inspected staff handling immigration at Nan Taw gate and the entry and departures of people and vehicles through Sin Pyu gate.
He then replied to explanations from officials and urged all relevant departments to cooperate in ensuring people from both countries experience smooth and pleasant immigration, and the need for officials from both sides to maintain close friendly relations.
From there, the Union Minister went to inspect Ho Saung outpost on the Myanmar-China border and gave instructions as necessary. —MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
