Union Government provides midday meals to members of the Sangha

The Union Government offered midday meals to members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee and Sayadaws who will receive religious titles at the Sasana Maha Beikman in the precinct of the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
President U Htin Kyaw, First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin, and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended the ceremony and offered the lunches to the Sayadaws.
The ceremony was attended by the members of the Sangha led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa.
Also present at the ceremony were Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker’s wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi, Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Chairman of the State Constitutional Tribunal U Myo Nyunt and wife Daw Htay Yi, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein and wife Daw Aye Thida, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aye Thar Aung, Chairman of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Legal Affairs and Special Cases Assessment Commission Thura U Shwe Mann and wife Daw Khin Lay Thet, Union ministers, Union Attorney-General, Chairman of the Union Civil Service Board, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chairman of the Anti-corruption commission, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, senior military officers, deputy ministers and their wives, departmental officials and invited guests.

The congregation led by President U Htin Kyaw, First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin, and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi received the Five Precepts from Sayadaw Dr. Kumara Bhivamsa.
Afterwards, President U Htin Kyaw and First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin presented offertories to Bhamo Sayadaw. State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi similarly presented offertories to Sayadaw of Thanlyin Minkyaung Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sandima Bhivamsa.
Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker’s wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi, Chief Justice of the Union U Tun Tun Oo, Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla presented offertories to Sayadaws.
The ceremony ended with sharing merits gained. A day meal was then offered to Saydaws and nuns.—Myanmar News Agency
