Union Education Minister holds talks on school reopening plans

Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi held a meeting on videoconference yesterday to discuss reopening of schools next month.
The Union Minister discussed resuming classes for high school students in July, followed by gradual reopening of classes for the middle and primary levels, in accordance with the guidelines and directives of the Ministry of Health and Sports.

He also talked about awareness programmes for public on the healthy practices for children, teachers and parents at school and home.
The Union Minister also highlighted ensuring all the children go to schools, healthy and safety measures, making minimum 6-ft between each other in the classrooms, sufficient interval times for classes in the morning and afternoon sections, security measures for schools, minimum dropout rates, better learning opportunities and qualities.
He continued to say that appointment, assignment and duty transfers will be prioritized in ethnic areas before the academic year; new curriculum for Grade 4, 7 and 10, teacher training course for short-term teaching and learning courses, refresher courses including on-line training, coordination with the National Education Policy Commission and the National Curriculum Committee and participation of parents to support home assignment system.
Health awareness refresher courses, roundtable discussions, educative articles, nutrition programmes for school children, prevention of dengue fever, education stipends, processes in school enrolment weeks, cooperation of social affairs ministers with parents and teachers.
After the discussions of deputy minister, social affairs minister of region/state governments explained preparations for reopening of schools.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
