Myanmar-Japan Technological Development Centre-1 and Centre-2 were handed over in a ceremony at Yangon Technological University (YTU) yesterday morning.
Firstly, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi thanked officials from Japan, JICA and other sources of assistance for the centres, on behalf of the Ministry of Education. He said it is important to amend curricula to accommodate the needs of KG+12 and to promote teaching methodologies and research processes. He said he encourages more practical teaching in engineering.
The Union Minister said they are following a Master Plan in developing YTU and are in close cooperation for elevating the quality of curricula and research processes with JICA after signing a Record of Discussion with them in 2013.
Next, Japanese Ambassador Mr Ichiro Maruyama and Japan-Myanmar Association’s Secretary-General Mr Yuichi Watanabe delivered separate addresses and the YTU Rector explained the equipment installed in both centres and plans to utilize them.
Masayuki Karasawa of JICA Myanmar Office also delivered an address, after which officials cut ceremonial ribbons to unveil the two centres and observed the equipment inside.
