There is a first time for everything

The faithful discharge of obligations to safeguard territorial integrity, promote national integration and protect the wellbeing of citizens may be regarded as the touchstone of good governance and clean government.
Decades of living under strict control have left us totally uninterested in politics, which is why most of us find ourselves still new to democracy. Fortunately, thanks to the age of information and technology, we are now able to keep abreast of the latest developments of the world. In other words, we have acquired some knowledge of what became of other countries that placed unprincipled politicians in office.
If we were to choose the wrong people to make and administer laws, our revenues would just be squandered on unworthy people. In democracy, it is our own neglect that puts us in trouble. This emphasizes the importance of the electorate to weigh and measure candidates against one another and vote for those who can carry out their promised measures. Only then will we be able to relax, safe in the knowledge that we have sent ethical representatives to parliament.
This time we are to make a difference with active participation in national politics. There is a first time for everything. Cheated once, we are not to blame for our wrong actions. Cheated twice, we will only have ourselves to blame.
