Supreme Court launches plan for judicial reform

The Supreme Court of the Union launched its Judicial Strategic Plan (2018-2022) at the Myanmar International Convention Centre II, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday, addressing changes not only for judges, but also for participants and members of the media.
The second strategic plan for the Myanmar judiciary sector has been adopted with the motto “Towards Improving Justice for All”.
At the ceremony, Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo expressed thanks to international partners who cooperated in the project over the last three years.
“In the judiciary sector, adopting strategic plans means systematic reforms for the judiciary sector and not only judges, judiciary officers and those who are participating in the judiciary sector but also partners and media also play an important role in carrying out the reforms,” said Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo.
He also called for working together for improving justice for all the people.
Judicial Strategic Plan (2018-2022) was introduced and explained in the second part of yesterday’s ceremony.
Present at the ceremony were the chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Union, the Union Attorney-General, Judges of the Supreme Court of the Union, the Deputy Attorney-General, chairmen, secretaries and members of commission and affairs committees of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw, stakeholders of the justice sector, officials from foreign embassies, United Nations’ organisations and international partners, officials from departments of the Union Supreme Court, judicial sectors, the Anti-corruption Commission, civil societies and the media. The book, Judicial Strategic Plan (2018-2022), was distributed to attendees and is also available at http://www.unionsupremecourt.gov.mm. — Myanmar News Agency
