Squall fells trees, tears billboards, reduces temperature

A powerful wind hit along Strand Road in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay, at 11.30 p.m. on 8 May.
The squall pulled down large trees on 84th street and Mandalay-Sagaing Road, causing traffic congestions in the morning of 9 May. The powerful wind broke branches of some trees and tore billboards in Myitnge in Amarapura Township.
Workers of Sanitation Department under Mandalay City Development Committee and local residents cleared debris on the roads and residences.
Due to showers of squall, some parts of Mandalay Region got 0.40 inch of rainfall in midnight of 8 May, reducing temperature from 42 to 38 degree centigrade on 9 May.–Maung Pyi Thu (Mandalay)
