Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordinating Body holds 7th meeting

The Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordinating Body organized its 7th meeting at Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo, as the Chairman of the Coordinating Body, delivered an opening remark at the meeting, saying that the meeting will discuss implementation of the ‘Justice for Public’ Strategic Plan 2019-2023 which was adopted by the Coordinating Body and has been approved by Union government on 1 January 2019.

The meeting was also taken part by partner organizations and held talks on the approval of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of coordinating body, alternative dispute resolution outside the courts.
He added the Sustainable Development Plan 2018-2030 includes emergence of reliable judiciary system, and that the Coordinating Body will have to carry out for ensuring justice for public, individual rights and a complete strategic plan.
Quoting the Speech of the State Counsellor at the Conference on Justice Sector Coordination for Rule of Law held on 7 and 8 March in 2018, the Union-Attorney General said the recognition of long-standing local methods for solving disputes and consideration of improving these practices.
He also remarked after the SOP have been approved the works of Region/State level coordinating bodies will become more effective.
Then, the Union Attorney-General coordinated the works of these bodies on education programmes and complaint letters, their difficulties in coordinating with state departments.
The meeting was also attended by the 75 persons from the Coordinating Body, heads of Region/State level coordinating bodies, legal officers, the partner organizations of MyJustice, UNDP, USAID, DFID, DFAT, JICA, Embassy of Denmark, IDLO, Mercy Corps and Norwegian Refugee Council.—MNA
