Pyithit Test Well-1 of Offshore Block A6 finds gas

Myanmar energy officials celebrated the discovery of natural gas at the Pyithit Test Well-1 of Offshore Block A6 yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw at the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. The find will be exploited by MPRL E&P Pte. Ltd., TOTAL  E&P Myanmar and Woodside Energy which are engaged in a production sharing contract with Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise. Drilling of the Pyithit test well started at 10 June, reaching a target depth 4570 meter (14993ft). According to wireline logging data during the drilling ,a gas-bearing 35-meter-thick sand bedding was detected at a depth of 3542 meters. A production test was carried out and determined that 50 million cubic feet of gas can be produced per day. Another test well at Pyi Tharyar will be drilled in the western side of A(6) Block with deep water drilling ship  Dhirubhai in August.
Under the joint venture partnership, MPRL E&P invested 20%, Woodside Energy Pte. Ltd. of Australia 40% and TOTAL E&P Myanmar 40%.  Yesterday’s ceremony was attended by Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win and department Heads and local and foreign media.—Myanmar News Agency
