Nay Pyi Taw, 12 Nov—President U Thein Sein attended the Commemorative Summit of the 40th anniversary of the ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations held at the Sapphire Hall of Myanmar International Convention Centre here on Wednesday.
The summit was also attended by the leaders of ASEAN countries, senior government officials, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, ministers and secretary of ASEAN.
At the event, U Thein Sein discussed to strengthen future relations between ASEAN and Australia and people, rule of law, development of democracy, systematic administration and prevalence of human rights, promotion between interfaith groups, prevention of trans-border crimes and more cooperation in maritime sector.
The state leaders of both Australia and the members of bloc exchanged their views on politics, economy and social affairs between the bloc and its very first dialogue partner since 1974.
