People visit famous pagodas on Abhidhamma Day in Yangon

Today is Abhidhamma Day which falls on Fullmoon day of Thadingyut (Wednesday) when the Buddhist people performed meritorious deeds.
Organized by the board of trustees, people and pilgrims offered lightings to Shwedagon Pagoda on its platform. The Abhidhamma Day was observed at the ancient pagoda images prayer hall, and people offered alms to members of the Sangha.
Religious association recited religious verses at Sule Pagoda in the morning and offered oil lights
in the evening.

At Botahtaung Pagoda, religious associations donated flowers, water, fruits and alms to the Buddha images and recited religious versed. In the afternoon, Tipitakadhara Dhamma Bhandagarika Agga Maha Pandita Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sirindabhivamsa administered religious discourse to the devotees.
Ceremonies to mark Abhidhamma Day were observed at Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda, Tooth Relic Pagoda (Yangon), Kyaikwaing Pagoda, Shwephonepwint Pagoda, Maha Wizaya Pagoda and other pagodas and stupas in Yangon Region and the devotees and people joined the ceremonies.
In the evening, the religious edifices were decorated with multi-coloured lightings.
