Over 150,000 tourists visit Sagaing, Monywa, Yinmabin Townships in 2019

A total of 150,231 foreign travellers visited places of tourist interest in Sagaing, Monywa, Yinmabin, and Wetlet townships in 2019, said U Aung Thu Oo, head of Sagaing Region’s Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
Tourists travelled to Sagaing Region this year to see its well-known destinations, beautiful scenery, and the diverse range of cultures and traditions of local tribes in the townships.
“The number of tourists visiting the significant places in those townships has increased because we have upgraded some places and things of tourist interest to ensure a peaceful visit. The tourists visited those places through the local tour services companies. There are many significant places in the region. Tourists visiting those places can create jobs for local people. We also plan to create more tourist destinations,” said U Aung Thu Oo.
Of the total number of tourists who visited Sagaing, Monywa, Yinmabin, and Wetlet townships in 2019, 135,376 tourists visited Mingun in Sagaing township, 4,820 tourists visited the Mohnyin Sambuddhe pagoda in Monywa township, 7,242 tourists went to Phowintaung, 2,410 tourists paid a visit to Shwebataung in Yinmabin township, 258 tourists headed to the Hanlin ancient city in Wetlet township, and 125 tourists visited Shwebo Nandawgyi in Shwebo Town.—Win Oo (Zayyartine)(Translated by Hay Mar)
