One dead, two injured after truck overturns

One person was killed and two others injured when an 18-wheeled truck overturned at 4:30 pm on 16 September at milepost 12 on the Pasawng-Mawchi Road in Bawlakhe District of Kayah State.

According to witness accounts, the truck — which was en route to Pasawng from Mawchi and was being driven by Kyaw Thu, 28, from Mahlaing Township, Mandalay Region —overturned after the driver lost control.
The truck’s spare Tin Ko Latt, 31, from Kwatgyi village-tract, Hmawbi township, was killed on the spot, while driver Kyaw Thu and one more spare, identified as Than Chaung, 22, from Mahlaing Township, were injured and taken to Pasawng People’s Hospital for treatment.
The police have filed a case of reckless driving against Kyaw Thu under sections 304/A, 338, and 337 of the Penal Code.—Ko Sai (Loikaw)
