Myanmar, Russia discuss strengthening cooperation in national security matters

U Thaung Tun, Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government arrived at Yangon International Airport after attending the IX International Meeting of High Level Officials Responsible for Security Matters which was held in Sochi, Russian Federation, from 24 to 26 April 2018. During his stay in Moscow, he met with H.E. Mr. Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation at his office in Moscow at 12:00 noon on 27 April 2018.
During their meeting, the Union Minister and the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation discussed strengthening cooperation in areas relating to national security matters. The Union Minister briefed the Secretary on the developments in Myanmar, including the situation in Rakhine State.

The Union Minister, later in the evening at 4pm, met with H.E. Mr. Igor Morgulov, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
The Ministers noted with satisfaction the development of friendly relations and close ties of cooperation between the two countries over the past seven decades. They reaffirmed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in the United Nations and other international fora, promote people-to-people contacts and strengthen trade relations.
Major Gen. Aung Soe, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs and U Ye Gyaw Mra, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also came back with the Union Minister.—Ministry of the Office of the Union Government
