Ministry of Health & Sports discusses COVID-19 with nationwide medical professionals

Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe attended a video conference with state/regional public health and medical services departments and various medical professionals yesterday.
The Union Minister first gave a speech where he said the donations of money, medical supplies and equipment by the public tremendously help the doctors, nurses and staff of medical services, public health and laboratory departments.
The Union Minister said there are five important tasks to implement in this period: (a) proper management of quarantine sites, (b) raising health awareness with loudspeakers in townships, wards and villages, (c) cooperating with the General Administration Department and civil society organizations to discover people who have been in close proximity to people infected with the virus, (d) testing those who have been in close contact or suspected of infection for COVID-19, and (e) having the central/state/regional hospitals reassess their daily processes for weaknesses and resolving them as soon as possible.
The Union Minister said they will increase testing for COVID-19 and have instructed for the use of rapid diagnostic test kits and transportation arrangements for the lab specimens to relevant ministries and states and regions. He said relevant directors-general are responsible for ensuring COVID-19 processes do not hinder other ongoing health plans.
The meeting then commenced with discussions on difficulties faced in implementing quarantines, accomplishments, requirements, training courses for ventilators, and treatment monitored by the clinical management team. -MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
