The ‘Myanmar Global Investment Forum’ is taking place at Myanmar International Convention Center-2 in Nay Pyi Taw, aiming to promote foreign investments in the country.
Cohost for the event the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, the Myanmar Investment Commission and the Hong Kong-based Euromoney Institutional Investor (Asia).
The two-day forum was opened yesterday, with the welcoming remarks by Chief Executive Officer Mr Tony Shale from Euromoney Institutional Investor (Asia), followed by an opening keynote address of Union Minster for Planning and Finance U Soe Win.
During the first panel session, senior government officials, foreign and local investors, bankers and economists discussed the topics of Myanmar’s prospects for FDI flows; Changes in the Banking and Financing Sectors; Insurance Market Open for Business.
The forum continued in the afternoon with keynote on-stage interview and focus sessions, panel discussions on investment, and its related topics covering retail sectors, manufacturing, tourism, real estate, agribusiness and finance, ICT-digital transformation, infrastructure, energy, debt and equity market and SME potentials.
The opening ceremony of the forum was also attended by Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung, Union Minster for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing, Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Naing Thet Lwin, Chief Minsters of States/Regions, Deputy Ministers, ministers of State/Region governments, parliamentary representatives, senior departmental officials, local and foreign businesspersons and media persons, totaling about 1,000 participants.
Booths are also displayed at the same venue to promote local products and investment opportunities in states and regions of the country.
