Myanmar Rice Federation, Myanmar Rice and Paddy Traders Association and Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association sold basic foodstuff at reasonable price to the local people in Hlinethaya Township yesterday.
The move is aimed to avoid the unnecessary price hike as there is an abundant stockpile of the basic foodstuffs in their hands, according to the officials.
About 1,400 people bought the food yesterday.
The scheme will proceed to other industrial zones in Yangon Region.
This effort is to ensure the adequate supply of basic foodstuffs in the local market and control the price increase amid Covid-19 negative impacts, said a statement released by the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.—Ko Htet (Translated by TTN)
