Luncheon served in celebration of fourth parliamentary anniversary

The Hluttaw in Myanmar served a luncheon in celebration of their fourth anniversary here on Friday, officials said.
Thura U Shwe Mann, Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and the Pyithu Hluttaw, and U Khin Aung Myint, Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw, attended the luncheon.
Speaking at the celebration, U Khin Aung Myint said MPs are writing a parliamentary history of Myanmar and as a result need to set an excellent example to posterity, urging them to improve the parliament’s image.
He called for parliamentary committees to make speedy efforts to finish what remains to be done in sync with the time left before the parliament is in recess until the preparatory period for the coming general elections.
In his speech, Thura U Shwe Mann spoke of the parliament’s remarkable achievements in passing, amending and repeal laws in the past four years, stressing that the ongoing parliamentary session will be a decisive factor to the parliament’s efforts concerned with constitutional amendments in its tenure left.
He called for parliamentarians to give priority to the interests of the nation and the people.
After the luncheon, Thura U Shwe Mann gave a press conference and responded to queries raised by the editors and reporters from 23 local new agencies, loca-based foreign news agencies, newspapers and journals.
