To celebrate the 70th Kachin State Day, a Manaw festival was held at Kaung Yar Village, Karmine Town, Hpakhant Township, in the Mohnyin District, Kachin State, on Wednesday.
Led by the Kachin traditional literature and cultural committee of Karmine Town, the festival opened with a Manaw dance.
Hpakhat’s hluttaw representatives, township heads, departmental officials, teachers, students, invited guests and members of the Kachin traditional literature and cultural committee also took part in the Manaw dance, along with the ethnic people, who joined the event wearing their traditional costumes.
More than 3,000 people, including Kachin racial groups such as Manmaw, Khaku, Maru, Zaiwa, Rawang and Lisu and others such as Bamar, Shan, Rakhine, Kayin and the Gurkha people also participated in the Manaw festival.
The 70th Kachin State Day of Karmine Town is expected to strengthen peace among the ethnic people in Kachin State, said a local ethnic resident.
