Japanese company donates $10,000 to Mandalay School for the Deaf

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye received US$10,000 donated by Japanese Kyoshin Company for the Mandalay School for the Deaf yesterday.
The company has already donated 22 times to the school which is operated by the ministry.
At the donation ceremony, the Union Minister said his office is cooperating with the public, civil societies, international organizations and partner countries in providing assistance to the disabled persons.
He added the donated funds will be used in purchasing teaching aids for sign language and vocational training.
The Union Minister continued saying that preventive screening children for reducing and preventing disability and rehabilitation programmes are being introduced in some States and Regions as the programmes need the participation of parents and close relatives.
He also requested contributions of international organizations in the public services of the government.
Mr Sadaaki Tachiki, the Chairman of Kyoshin Company, promised to donate required equipment for the school, and explained annual contribution of funds.
The Union Minister and party also looked around the workshops, training rooms and teaching of sign languages.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister, the Deputy Minister and officials visited the Mandalay Youth’s Training School under the Department of Social Welfare, and discussed rehabilitation works.
Deputy Minister U Soe Aung inspected a rehabilitation course conducted by the Department of Rehabilitation for 20 drug addicts.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
