Religion for Peace-Myanmar (RfP-M) organized an event to mark the International Day of Tolerance at the Hilton Mandalay Hotel in Mandalay yesterday.
At the event, Archbishop of Mandalay Marco Tin Win made a greeting remark, and followed by the speeches of Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Kyi Min, President of Religion for Peace-Myanmar U Myint Swe and RfP International Honorable President Bishop Gunnar Stalsett.
Afterwards, Buddhim, Christian, Hindu, Islamic and Bahabi religious leaders spread loving-kindness and recited prayers. Officials from different religions then read the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance.
The International Day for Tolerance was annually observed since 16 November1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. —Tin Maung/Min Htet Aung (Man Sub-printing house) (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
