Future of ASEAN and strengthening of institutional capacity of ASEAN discussed

Nay Pyi Taw, 9 Oct—In preparation to the 25th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits scheduled from 9th to 13th November 2014, ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting, ASEAN Senior Economic Officials Meeting, Joint Preparatory Meeting (JPM) and the 2nd Meeting of ASEAN Coordinating Council Working Group on ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision are being held at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw starting from 8th October 2014.
The ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting was held on 9th October, 2014 in the Pinya Room at Grand Amara Hotel. The Meeting was chaired by His Excellency U Aung Lynn, Director-General of the ASEAN Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar. Senior Officials from ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General and delegations from ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting.
The Meeting discussed matters relating to the preparation of the upcoming 25th ASEAN Summit scheduled from 9-13 November 2014 including ASEAN Community Building, ASEAN’s External Relations, future of ASEAN and strengthening of institutional capacity of ASEAN.
The ASEAN-U.S. Drafting Meeting which was held at the sideline of the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting discussed in detail on the draft ASEAN-U.S. Joint Statement on Climate Change which is to be issued at 2nd ASEAN-U.S. Summit in November.
