A boat carrying 18 passengers from Paukkaing Village, Mindon Township, Magway Region, was overturned at the convergence of Mindon Creek and Mu Creek around 2:45 p.m. yesterday.
Some of the passengers were able to swim to shore while the rest were swept away with the current. Township Administrator U Kyaw Thu Soe, Township Chief Firefighter U Khin Zaw Aung, police and other villagers conducted search and rescue operations.
