Officials on 11 July disbursed over K18 million in cash as aid to farmers affected by floods last year in Taungdwingyi Township of Magway Region.
At a ceremony held at 11 a.m. on 11 July, the Township Administrator delivered a speech, and U Zaw Min Tun, the Regional Hluttaw representative, explaining the reasons why the aid was distributed, said the authorities are planning to provide the necessary aid to farmers.
After heavy rains struck Magway Region in September and October, 2018, farmlands were flooded and crops were destroyed.
Therefore, the regional government is disbursing more than K18 million in cash to 16,137 farmers owning 36,004 acres of flood-hit farmland, including summer and monsoon sesame farms.
The regional representatives and officials handed over the cash meant for farmers to the ward and village administrators on Thursday. —Naing Win (Taungdwingyi) Translated by La Wonn)
