The closing ceremony of Einme Children Literary Festival and its accompanying book sales was held at Einme B.E.H.S. (1), Ayeyawady Region, yesterday.
The festival was a collaboration between the Ayeyawady Region Government, General Administration Department, Information and Public Relations Department, and Department of Basic Education.
Regional Hluttaw representative Daw Yi Yi Tun addressed the ceremony where she said similar festivals will be held in the coming years. She said they will reduce frivolities and provide suitable rewards to children competing in the festival’s competitions.
Regional Children Literature Festival Organizing Joint Secretary U Hla Myo Aung also delivered some remarks. He talked about the children literature festivals for 26 townships in Ayeyawady Region, the objectives behind them, and how the region is the only one hosting these festivals at the township level.
Next, Township Administrator U Hla Min Thu said they endeavoured to have the festival packed with revellers and thanked all the donors and co-operators for making the festival a success. Township Education Officer U Thet Toe then expressed his gratitude for the festival on behalf of the local children and said the literary festival is part of the five-year education strategic plan.
Afterwards, officials conferred rewards on the 40 winners of eight oral and physical competitions. This was followed by two musical performances and conferring of certificates of honor to the donors.—Ayeyawady Region IPRD (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
