Development programmes in progress in Sagaing Region

The Department of Development for Border Areas and National Races is undertaking development programmes in Sagaing Region’s townships Khamti, Pinlebu, Leshi and Nanyun.
A total of K 18.338 billion was used in 2019-2020 fiscal year for construction and upgrading roads, bridges, education, healthcare, water supply, housings and religious affairs.
The funds were received from Union budget, State budgets and a grant from India, said Assistant Director U Nyi Swe.
The Union budgets were used for construction of roads, bridges, one pipe culvert, 82 box culverts, 5 Bailey bridges, one school, 5 units of staff apartments, 2 water supply projects, 155 ft of earth retaining wall and 3 fences.
The State budget were spent for road constructions, 14 iron-concrete reinforced bridges, 8 wooden bridges, 10 pipe culverts, 139 box culverts, 1 Bailey bridge, 11 units of staff apartments, 1 library, 1 monastery, 681 sets of solar panel, 1,200 ft wastewater drainage, 420 ft of earth retaining wall and 2/3 miles of water canal for crop cultivation and 1 mile of irrigation route.
The grants from India is being used for road construction, 52 box culverts, 4 Bailey bridge and 3 schools in 2019-2020 fiscal year.— Hmwe Kyu Zin(Translated by Aung Khin)
