The December Garden will host its first flower festival from 18 December to 18 January in Pyin Oo Lwin Town.
The flower festival will features 400,000 flowering plants, including 30 local species and 30 Thailand species. Moreover, works of local floral decorators such as flower waterfalls, flower carts, and heart-shaped gardens will be displayed at the festival to bring about environmental awareness among people.
“With the aim to conserve the environment, we have built all buildings with wood, bamboo, and natural products. All the things in our garden are decorated with streams, waterfalls, and flower gardens. In addition, visitors can take recreation while enjoying the natural scenic views of our garden,” said U San Tint, in charge of the garden. The month-long flower festival will take place on 50 acres out of the 150-acre Garden. An entrance fee of K1,000 will be charged per person during the festival.
“Pyin Oo Lwin Town is one of the tourist attractions in Mandalay Region because of its weather, organic food, and tourist sites. We can promote not only the tourism sector of Pyin Oo Lwin Town, but also create job opportunities for local people,” said Ko Kyaw Zin Oo.
The flower festival will also be held at the National Kandawgyi Botanical Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin like the previous year.
