The Danyingone wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower market is opened yesterday in Yangon.
The market, which is a joint venture between YCDC and the Myanmar Agro Exchange Public Ltd, is located at the corner of the Shwe Pyi Thar Bridge road and Pale Road in Insein Township.
“The intention to build the new market is to promote the lifestyle of Yangon people. There are two points why a market is successful. The first one is the cleanliness of the market and the availability of car parking. The second point is an operator who is performing to develop the market,” Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein said in the opening ceremony of the market. He added that YCDC will work with operators to manage more than 170 markets in Yangon in the future.
The market is 82.78 acres wide and the construction was started in December 2015. As a first part of the project, three buildings with 5600 stalls were built, and spent K25 billion that include the investment of more than 2000 shareholders.
The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, and there will be more than 9000 stalls in total.—Myanmar Digital News
