Union Minister for Commerce U Win Myint attended signing memorandums of understanding between Myanmar and Thailand in Tak province, on Thursday.
Before signing ceremony of these agreements, Union Minister and delegations attended the business meeting held at Centara Mae Sot Hill Resort.
At the meeting, Tak province governor explained Thai authorities’ efforts in implementation of ‘Sister City’ between Mae Sot and Myawaddy, plans to open new Asia highway in July 2015, construction of second Mae Sot-Myawaddy bridge and cooperation in bilateral trades.
Officials from both sides signed Thailand-Myanmar Business Meeting 2015 Joint Statement. Businesspersons from Tak province, Kayin state and Mon state signed MoUs for cooperation.
An MoU was also signed between Thonburi Holding Company Limited of Thailand and Ga Mone Pwint Co.,Ltd of Myanamr to set up a 200-bed private hospital in Tamwe Township, Yangon.
U Win Myint then attended ‘Tak Border Trade Fair 2015’ being held at Mae Sot municipality Stadium from 28 January to 1 February.
The event is aimed to offer both Thai and Burmese business operators an opportunity to meet and talk about future trade partnership.
The organizers comprising the Ministry of Commerce, Tak Chamber of Commerce, and Mae Sot Municipality expect the fair to pave the way for future trade expansion between the two countries.
According to the Tak provincial governor, the border trade in this area grows by 20 percent each year on average.
