Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI(M), Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan, here on Tuesday morning, according to officials.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing welcomed Pakistan’s willingness to work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and pledged support for friendly relationship between ASEAN and Pakistan, while creating a new level of cooperation between the naval forces of the two countries.
There exists deep, constructive relationship between the two countries and two armed forces, with the Pakistani admiral saying that the first ambassador to his country was from Myanmar. He expressed appreciation and thanks to Myanmar for its assistance to his country as a fresh sovereignty as well as for its support for the establishment of cooperation between Pakistan and ASEAN.
They also discussed ways of creating greater cooperation between their defence services, and exchange of friendly visits and trainees.
Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI(M) won the coveted Sword of Honour from Pakistan Naval Academy and was also awarded Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal at his graduation. He is the twentieth Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan.
