Bago Region government was provided with a disaster preparedness and response fund yesterday by KBZ’s Brighter Future Myanmar Foundation—BFM yesterday.
Responsible personnel of the philanthropic organization presented K100 million to Chief Minister of Bago Region U Win Thein.
The Chief Minister
expressed his thanks to the
donation, pledging that the fund would enable effectiveness of the disaster preparedness in the region which is in need of assistance for the preparedness.
The establishment of the fund comes to Bago after the foundation set up such a fund in eight regions and states in June and July.
“ Learning from delays in sending relief aid to some areas due to poor infrastructures when the country was hit badly by disasters last year, BFM’s chairperson Daw Nang Lang Kham decided to establish the fund nationwide aiming at assisting local authorities in carrying out relief and rehabilitation efforts timely,” said U Bo Bo Wai Maung of BFM at the ceremony to present donation to the government. BFM and other philanthropic groups carried out evacuation and relief in areas which were badly hit by floods and landslides last year.
