Delhi (India), 10 March—A two-day strategic dialogue among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and India begins Wednesday in New Delhi, with the aim of broadening ties between the 10-member regional block and the world’s second-most populous nation.
Bringing together members of the strategic community, thinks tanks, academics and opinion makers from ASEAN and their Indian counterparts, the seventh Delhi Dialogue will focus on political, security and economic issues in shaping the post-2015 agenda for the ASEAN-India partnership.
In addition to discussions on common security challenges faced by ASEAN members and India, the conference is scheduled to hold sessions exploring the potential for increasing business and economic ties, as well as others dedicated to cultural and development matters.
The partners have identified cooperation in education and skill development fields, integration of regional production networks, and promotion of social and cultural links among their peoples as areas of priority.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India is organizing Delhi Dialogue VII in partnership with the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) and other stakeholders. GNLM
