AGRICULTURAL exports were estimated at US$1.1 billion in trade value between 1 April and 4 August, nearly $32 million less than the same period last year, according to Commerce Ministry statistics issued Friday.
Agricultural exports were $1.1 billion during the same period of last fiscal year.
Of seven export categories, only the agriculture sector decreases in trade value.
Overall, exports were estimated at $4.5 billion, an increase of $685 million over last year.
Myanmar commodities such as rice, beans and pulses, fruits, rubber, sesame seeds and maize are exported across land ports of entry and sea routes.
Farmers face technology shortfalls, scarcity of labour and lack of access to agricultural inputs including fertilizer, irrigation and pesticides.
