7th State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee holds 6th meeting

The 6th meeting of the 7th State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee began at Maha Pathana Cave in Thiri Mingalar Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday.
The first-day meeting was presided over by Chairman Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maharattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhamo Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa.
Joint Secretary Sayadaw of the committee Agga Maha Pandita Dwipitakadhara Bhaddanta Agga Dhamma acted as the Master of Ceremonies.
In his opening speech at the meeting, Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa expressed his delight for the government’s planning to promote the monastic education schools nationwide.
The Chairman Sayadaw also called for establishing monastic education schools and for encouraging the Members of the Sangha who are taking part in the education system.
Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko suggested to hold meetings of ward/village/township/region/state level Sangha committees annually and to hold meeting Sangha Nayaka Committee every three months to be able to work closely between the bottom and top level committees.
Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sandima Bhivamsa supplicated annual report of work done by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.
A total of 397 Members of the Sangha attended the meeting.—Myanmar News Agency
