6th coordination meeting of peace negotiators turns out fruitful results

Representatives of the government and the NCA-S EAOs concluded their 6th coordination meeting yesterday, with fruitful results for further discussions and schedule for the next round of discussions in the first week of August. The final day of 6th coordination meeting highlighted the framework for NCA implementation of the 8th JICM meeting decisions, process and phase-by-phase implementation beyond 2020, preparations for the 4th session of Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong and related meetings and information about next meeting results to the political party group of UPDJC. NCA Implementation Framework Coordination Group Leader Sao Sai Ngern said, in his concluding remark on the meeting, that they discussed controversial issues in the Part 3 of Union Accord and reached some important agreements. “Meeting results from the upcoming coordination meetings will be shared to the political party groups of UPDJC. The remaining issues will be discussed at the 7th coordination meeting, and its results will be tabled to the Joint Implementing Coordination Meetings,” Sao Sai Ngern said.
He appreciated the peace-making efforts of negotiators from both sides, including on signing Part 3 of Union Accord and organizing Union Peace Conference. Vice-Chairman of NRPC and Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo also confirmed positive results of the meeting.
“Both sides tried to make key agreements through patience and optimistic manners. We will continue discussions in Nay Pyi Taw, and try for genuine federal practices at the 4th session of 21st Century Panglong. After the meeting, Director-General U Zaw Htay from the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor and NCA-S-EAOs representative Nai Aung Ma Ngay held the joint press conference.
