115 Myanmar citizens repatriated from foreign countries on 8 July

A relief flight of Myanmar Airways International (MAI) landed at the Yangon International Airport in the evening of 8 July, bringing back a total of 115 Myanmar citizens who were stranded in foreign countries. Among them, 45 persons were from South Korea, 1 each from Germany, Norway, Saudi Arabia and Russia, 2 each from Austria and the Netherlands, 3 from Switzerland, 4 from Greece, 5 from the UK, 10 from Indonesia and 10 from French and Spain and 30 from the United States.
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Ministry of Health and Sports and local officials helped the returnees for health inspections and arranged for 21-day quarantine. To bring back the Myanmar citizens who are stranded in foreign countries in relief flight and charter flight in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective countries and brought back a total of 6,934 citizens to date.
