Yangon Region murder cases down, robberies up in first half of year


 Yangon Region’s murder rate fell in the first half of 2015, but robberies increased, according to police. The Yangon Region Police Office said there were 87 murder cases in the first six months of 2015, down from 102 cases in the same period last year. Twenty-three robberies were recorded in the first half of this year, up from 18 for the same period last year. Mingaladon Township topped the list of murder cases with eight followed by Hlinethaya and Twantay with seven cases each, according to the police. Rape cases decrease slightly, from 79 to 73 cases, while burglaries dropped from 13 cases to 7. Yangon Region recorded a total of 186 murder cases and 48 robberies for 2014.
