Yangon, 13 July — The Yangon Region Government has begun implementing a new town plan for the western outskirts of the commercial capital, inviting tenders from Myanmar national developers on Monday.
The government will sell tender forms for K50,000 per copy at its office until 21 July, the government said in an announcement.
The submitted tender forms will be opened at the Yangon Region Government on 18 August. More information will be available online at www.eyangon.gov.mm/news, according to the announcement.
The new town plan is one of seven modern housing projects of the Greater Yangon Development Strategic Plan 2040 designed by the region government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The new town project, approved by parliament Monday, will be established on 11,716 acres between the Panhlaing River and the Twantay-Yangon Canal and between the Hlaing River and Hlinethaya-Twantay Road in western Yangon.
The seven modern housing projects will be established on more than 100,000 acres of land on the outskirts of Yangon and accommodate more than 10 million people.— GNLM
