Yangon Region Government meets youth leaders from Japan, ASEAN countries

YANGON Region Chief Minister U Myint Swe and party met youth leaders from Japan and the ASEAN countries who are visiting Myanmar under the 42nd Southeast Asian and Japanese youth programme (SSEAYP).
U Myint Swe welcomed the programme arranged by the Japanese government that increases bilateral relations and mutual understandings between Japan and Southeast Asian countries.
The programme is believed to be designed to help establish the ASEAN community, said the chief minister who urged them to visit the country’s significant national monuments like Shwedagon Pagoda and to try traditional foods.
The government of Japan has carried out its programme since 1974 with Myanmar joining the programme in 1998. More than 500 Myanmar youth participated in the programme.
