A SECTION of the Yangon -Mandalay Highway in Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region, has been widened to ease traffic congestion. The section is part of the No. 1 Asia Express Highway.
The section near the east bank of Meiktila’s South Lake in Yandanamanaung ward has been widened to 100 feet. The narrow road section is situated on a 60-foot hill, where two large cars coming from opposite directions could not pass each other easily.
After the completion of the extension project by the Yuzana Construction Co., cars using the road have been able to pass each other more easily.—Chantha
