Yangon circular trains popular with tourists

THE Circular train service in Yangon has become an increasingly popular tourist attraction for those who want to see the daily lifestyle of people at pedestrian level.
The number of tourists who take circular trains has increased sharply reaching more than 100 a day on average this year.
The number stood at around 60 last year.
Myanma Railways has sold tickets to foreigners for Myanmar currency since more than a year, decreasing the cost of a ticket from one dollar (around K 1,300) to K 300.
Myanma Railways has operated its circular train service in Yangon with air conditioned cars since October, 2013.
Currently, MR is operating 215 circular train services every day from downtown to the outskirts of Yangon.
