A workshop aimed at preserving Bagan’s cultural heritage will be held on 23 September in Bagan’s archaeological zone.
The workshop is titled Ancient Cities Network: Preservation and Conservation Management of Bagan Ancient City and it is organised by ASEAN Culture and Information Committee.
Participants will share information about the conservation of historical sites and link member states, enabling them to collaborate in the research and management of cultural heritage sites.
The initiative was first proposed by Myanmar at the 14th meeting of ASESAN Cultural Sub-committee in Yangon in 2013. Workshop participants also spent time exploring the ancient city of Bagan, including some of its best known archaeological gems, such as Shwezigon pagoda which was built during the reign of King Anawrahta and Ananda Temple, built during King Kyansittha’s reign.
