ENSURING the implementation of food safety and nutrition is the first priority for all countries in the world, said Union Minister Dr Aung Thu at a workshop in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, adding that climate change has cut crop yields in tropical regions.
In his address at the workshop on technological support for agricultural value chain development the Union minister said that a project aimed at adapting agricultural production methods to climate change in the country’s tropical zone is set to be implemented in cooperation
with the Asian Development Bank.
The project is aimed at ensuring quality production, developing the market economic system and improving the socio-economic status of rural people, according to the Union minister.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the project is set to take place in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos to ensure agricultural value chain development in rural areas with the goal of reducing poverty and unemployment in those areas.
