WORKS of Min Wai Aung, a famous local artist who has found recognition internationally, will be showcased at an exhibit in the United Kingdom at the end of this month.
The new art exhibition will be held at Kings Road Gallery in London between 27 and 30 October, featuring 26 works, including 20 watercolour paintings and six acrylic paintings.
This is the sixth time Min Wai Aung has exhibited his artworks in London, which is considered a gateway to the global art market. His works featuring monks, nuns and lay people in bold colour combinations became famous among western art lovers starting from 1990s.
Min Wai Aung has been showcasing his art in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Viet Nam and Japan in Asia, and also in Western countries including France, Switzerland, Germany and the United States.
The domestic art market in Myanmar has a bright future because of better infrastructure development including hotels, condominiums and high-rise buildings in the major cities. Currently, local artists mainly rely on foreign art lovers and collectors.
