Wishes for Myanmar New Year from Embassies in Myanmar

Japanese Ambassador Mr. Tateshi Higuchi
I wish good fortune for a joyous new year with families and friends. Myanmar is now advancing both socially and economically moving forward. Last November the State Counsellor made an official visit to Japan and held discussions with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. I will reiterate the message from that meeting that Japan will support Myanmar in both government and private sectors in its development. I wish the coming year to be a prosperous one for all the people of Myanmar.
Chinese Ambassador Mr. Hong Liang
Greetings, on behalf of the People’s Republic of China I extend my New Year wishes to all the ethnic nationals and people of this country. May you all have a happy New Year.
Vietnamese Ambassador H.E Dr. Luan Thuy Duong
I wish for all the people of Myanmar health, wealth, prosperity and good fortune in the New Year.
US Ambassador H.E Mr. Scot Marciel
Mingalarbar, I wish you a healthy and prosperous Myanmar New Year. This year we’re celebrating the 70th anniversary of relationships and friendship between the people of America and the people of Myanmar. And on behalf of the American people we look forward to being good friends and partners for many more years to come. I extend good wishes to all.
EU Ambassador Mr. Roland Kobia
Dear friends, I would like to wish you on behalf of the European Union, a very prosperous, healthy New Year, 1379. It has been an incredible year with a lot of things being done. The by-elections that just took place were organized in a very professional way, so we would like to congratulate for all the efforts that have been done over the last year. And the EU remains a helpful, constructive partner to help your efforts. Now Myanmar loves football so I would like to take a metaphor from football. Football is a very interesting game because all the players defend different interests in the teams. Also, the team that scores first is not always the team that wins in the end but what is very important is that they always shake hands at the end of the game and they accept the results of the game. Those who make bad fouls will be sent off with a red card and everyone will have to abide by the rules. And the last thing which is very important is that in very good teams, normally these good teams are made of players that come from the different parts of the country.
This is international football but you also have chinlone in Myanmar and the beauty of this game, I think, is that you all play together to try to achieve one common objective. It’s not about winning.  It’s about participating in the transition towards democracy and to be able to give all the good things to Myanmar. Thank you.
British Ambassador Mr. Andrew Patrick
Mingalabar, I extend my wishes for the New Year to all the people of Myanmar to have peace, happiness and all your desires fulfilled in the New Year.—Myanmar News Agency
