Weather radar station in Mandalay sees completion of piling work

PILING work for the construction of a radar station near TadaU Airport in Mandalay was completed, according to an official from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (Upper Myanmar).
The radar station is being built with the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency-JICA starting last December and is is slated for completion in the middle of the year 2017, said U Kyaw Lwin Oo, director of the department.
Of three set to be established in Myanmar, the first weather radar station was opened in Kyaukpyu last October while construction of the two facilities are in progress in Mandalay and Yangon.
Upon completion of three radar stations in Myanmar, weather forecast will be more accurate than before as the three stations will be able to exchange information with one another, added the director.
